The Annual Conservation Video Contest

What is the Climate Change Café?

It's a special day we are reserving for all Canadians, not just kids, to learn about Climate Change. The Climate Change Café is being designed and we are currently looking for organizations to sponsor and support this event.

What is Climate Change?

It's a change in the average weather. Change in itself is not necessarily bad, it's the speed at which the change is occurring that is the concern. It's like the Earth has a fever, with chills!

Oh Canada! What is going on?

Think about it. The global temperature has increased by 0.5o over the last 100 years. In Canada some of the trends in climate change will bring more rain and snow on the coastal areas, more hot & dry weather in the prairies, rising sea levels and increased smog in the cities.

Hot tip! Idle threat! Make sure that you turn your car engine off when you leave your car. After 10 seconds of idling, you are burning up gas, wasting your money and adding to pollution. Many people do not think of themselves as being polluters when they leave their engine on while they are picking up coffee, the mail or dropping off a video. But these are little things each of us can do that will add up to mean a lot. It's because there are so many of us with cars.

Why should you care?

There is the potential for more health concerns at a personal cost in addition to more severe environmental problems.

What can you do to make a difference?

Participate in the Climate Change Café.

How?

Go to your favourite book store and buy a book on Climate Change.

Go to your local library and borrow a book.

Fact: It is true that Canadians like their coffee! Swallow in science. It took at least three cups to get the theory of relativity down. Come and have a cup of java with me and let's make history. Climate Change might take a whole pot to figure out.

When?

Some time in the millennium; we are not sure exactly when it will occur.

You can check www.climatechangecafe.com occasionally and watch to see when the coffee's hot.
