CCAT CHAT© was created to honour the efforts of those students who submitted a video to the Annual Conservation Video Contest on Climate Change. We had a 366% increase in submissions for the Seventh Year. We recognize your efforts to learn about making changes in your daily lives to minimize the impact you have on Climate Change. We wanted to thank each and every one of you personally. So here is how we're doing it.
CCAT stands for the Climate Change Action Team. CHAT is the activity we would like to keep going so that information on Climate Change continues to be shared.
CCAT CHAT© is a Bulletin Board System (BBS) that provides the opportunity to share ideas about our actions on Climate Change and to pose challenging questions on related issues. It's an online forum to share innovative ideas, and ways to affect behaviour change to help Canadians with the challenges surrounding Climate Change.
Participants in the Annual Conservation Video Contest - students, teachers and parents who were involved in submitting videos to the Seventh Annual Conservation Video Contest are the founding members of CCAT CHAT©. CCAT founding members were issued certificates of membership and laminated wallet green cards.
!!! Congratulations !!!
If you were involved in the submission of a Video in the Seventh year you have earned the right to become a founding member of CCAT CHAT©.
Participants in the Eighth Annual Conservation Video Contest, and subsequent years will be given the same privilege. You must submit a video or audio tape to be granted passage into the Chat zone. Your password must not be shared with anyone. Its only for those students who participate in the Annual Conservation Video Contest and the experts and specialists that we have invited.
Our Wacky Thought Pattern: Kids that submit videos or tapes are "cool cats... kings of the jungle...". We are very proud of these kids so we thought "a pride of lions... cool cats... jazzy people... chat... work with us here... come to the den (the place our Dad had full of books when we were kids).
It is a peer to peer exchange, open to any participant that has a question that they can't find an answer. The goal is to pose innovative ideas or challenge people to think differently. It is also a window to "chat" through emails with some very, very interesting people - experts and specialists in Climate Change.
Participation is easy, just click onto the topic or "thread" that interests you and reply to the message. Your email will be posted immediately. To see your email, you must refresh your connection to the site through whatever process your browser has. You can also initiate threads - topics- by posting a new message.

PTP - "cool site!" Anyone in CCAT CHAT © can still access your thread and reply, this will just help our experts who are really pressed for time.

CCAT CHAT© is specifically designed to be accessible at any time - with your password you can come on day or night and post. People coming into CCAT CHAT © can respond to questions as they choose when they have time. To send a message to another participant please note your subject as PTP (peer to peer) - and then enter the thread or topic. If you wish to challenge our experts enter EX and enter your thread or topic. It would go like this:
Or
EX - "why does...?"
This is not a way to get homework done for tomorrow morning; you may not get a response immediately. We do not control who plays or when they can play. Its really up to you to make this work, we just provide a forum for the exchange. People come on when it is convenient to their work schedule and respond as they wish.
Periodically we will clear the BBS, and move the information. If we get enough help from our sponsors we will condense the information into a report and post it. We are not going to break the thread of a hot and heavy discussion. When there is a lull in the conversation or when a new thread takes CCAT CHATERS © interests to a new issue, we will pop in to clean up the site.
