Why did we create the Cool School© Toolkit?
We have a goal. We would like to see every student and teacher in every school across Canada become knowledgeable about Climate Change by 2005. We feel that the video contest is doing a pretty good job, but if we could get more schools involved and help them reduce the impact of their activities on Climate Change, it would be better. Everybody wins.
For this reason, we would like to introduce you to the Cool School Toolkit. It is really simple, there are a number of ideas and examples in the Toolkit, and some suggestions on how you can turn your school into a Cool School! One of the tools we share is a process that will help you learn how to do more with less. You can share your efforts and results with us in your video or audio tape production for the Annual Conservation Video Contest!
The Cool School© process challenges you to look at how your school activities affect Climate Change. The ideas in the Cool School Toolkit will help you decide which activities you could change to reduce your impact on Climate Change. You are going to have to make some changes. In making these changes you will have to be able to involve the rest of the school, then teach classmates and teachers, the principle, the janitor and your parents about Climate Change. Once you have figured out what changes you need to make, share them in a video or audio tape and send them in to the Annual Conservation Video Contest. Maybe you'll be our winner too!
If you Plan, Do, Check and Assure...You will help to curb Climate Change!
The PDCA cycle that you see below is the same one that you used in your video planning. It is a management tool that can be adapted for any project. It is a simple and effective process to follow. It will help you get things done...and done well!
